1. How Price is Determined
Price depends on complexity of the art, urgency, and the rights sold. The more work, and the more uses you want, the higher the cost.
2. Commission Procedure
After we discuss the concept and agree on the basic elements and the price, I will send a contract and require a partial payment. For paintings, payment is by thirds… 1/3 when work begins, 1/3 half-way through, and the last 1/3 once completed; before it’s delivered. I then prepare a sketch based upon our discussion. Once approved, I will require at least four weeks to complete the art.
3. Rights Sold
Base prices are for first worldwide reproduction rights for use on the product and in the advertising of it only. Any merchandising uses (as in t-shirt) require an additional fee. I have the option of making prints unless you buy exclusivity.
I schedule work at least two months in advance and take it on a first come first served basis. I’m usually booked up with work several months in advance. However, please let me know when you need the art and I’ll see if I can accommodate you.
5. Other Adjustments
Work for hire assignment pricing will be lower due to not owning the original work. The above rules factor in determining the cost.
Thanks for your interest my work. I hope to work with you in the future.
